Writers if you had to choose between fiction and poetry, which would you choose?

Question

Writers if you had to choose between fiction and poetry, which would you choose?
My school only allows you to specialize in one or the other. Im relatively decided but curious about what other people prefer and why.

Answer

Fiction. I love poetry too, but theres something so engrossing about the elements of telling a story and making a compelling plot. I also think that to some extent, poetry can be incorporated into prose I mean, look at some modern authors, Neil Gaiman comes to mind, and they reeeally have a way with language, some very pretty turns of phrase.

So yes or no answers

Answer

Bowser.brbr You prefer to write alonebrAbsolutely. I get very selfconscious if I try to write in a room with others, so I tend to just wait until Im alone. And Id never, ever be able to cowrite a novel with someone.brbr You are an introvertbrHa! Yes. I think I take, quotintrovertquot to a whole new level. My brother has Aspergers, and my Mum wanted to get me tested for it as well because Im so antisocial. But I assured her that I just dont like people, and its true.brbr When you go to bed, you usually have a predream, where you control the dreamstory in your headyou think about your own storybrOn occasion, yes. I dont do it every night, but a few times a week I find my mind wandering to Glendeyn and figuring out whats going to happen next.brbr You daydreambrLets just say my minds in the clouds.brbr When you get an idea when you are out, you think about it for the rest of the day until you get in and have to write type it down and you end up forgetting where you even were or what you were doing, lolbrYes! But my mind is so erratic that I very rarely manage to remember the entire idea. Its so annoying gtbrbr You prefer to stay in and write than go out to a partybrYuck, parties.brShuddersbrThe last thing I want to do is stand around in a room with a bunch of drunk teenagers getting hit on by people that repulse me.brbr You are femalebrYes brbr You hatedont like exercisingbrWell. Only because its so damned hot in this country. Id probably exercise if I had some form of equipment in the house... Like an Ab Twister! Ah, Id love one of those. But most of the time Im just sitting around on my a. Thank God for my fast metabolism.brbr You are creative in other things, such as art, music, dancing etc...brNo brIm the most uncreative person in the universe. Im also terrible at analytical things, like math and science. Writing is pretty much the only thing I have, and even then Im not that great at it.brI used to play bass and write songs, but I pretty much sucked. And then my bass broke so... That was the end of that fiasco. I also used to play the violin, but I was so terrible that my teachers hair actually started falling out. And as for art, well... I like to doodle.brbr When you read, you sometimes roll your eyes if the character does something stupid or you mumble out something like quotWhat was the point in that?quotbrYES! Eurgh, Im doing that a lot in the book Im reading now.brbr You are more of a jogging bottoms and a hoody type of person than a quotI have to wear makeup and look best MOST of the time.quotbrEh, kind of. I dont own jogging bottoms or hoodies, but I do spend most of my time in comfortable clothes like tshirts and what have you. I dont like to leave the house without makeup because my skin is so atrocious, but thats just me.brbr Your books have many creases on the spinebrHow did you know?! Dbrbr You prefer hardbacks to paperbacks excluding the costbrYes! Hardbacks make me feel smart, not to mention I prefer to hold them.brbr You are in no rush to get published you have a long while yet to get your book out therebrYahuh. I recognise that Ive got a LONG way to go writing wise, and I dont mind spending a lot of time perfecting it.br All your stories in your notepad or word doc that are unfinished, you see them as writing practise and not as failing stories.brHahahah, pretty much. But all of my unfinished stories have been deleted over the years by spiteful siblings. So I never did get to finish them.brbr You seem to do better when writing in rd personbrWell, Im not exactly sure. I dabbled in writing the first chapter of my novel in both to see, but the people I showed it to had really mixed reviews. So... I still dont have a clear answer on which Im better at.brbr You read and write so you can escape mundane lifeproblemsbrYes brbr You love book trailers more than reading what its aboutbrBook trailers? Oh, those things on YouTube? No, I dont really like those. I like to read blurbs though.brbr You are a fast typerbrYep! And a fast texter. Like lightning.brbr You used to be an outdoor person but now you are more of an indoor person so you can write.brYes, but I think that has more to do with where we live now, and also not being a kid anymore. When I was younger and living in a totally awesome neighbourhood in New Zealand I used to spend all day running around getting up to mischief with my brother. We explored all the creeks in the area, and went on bike adventures every weekend. Damn it was awesome. Curse you Australian suburbia! Curse you!

Religion Check. Its about learning to understand God, while sharing information with God in this religion God is mostly inactive, and would not be prayed to for assistance. The entire goal of the religion is to fully understand the intentions of God, and carry them out. Many sects are still squabbling about whether they have the answers yet or not.brbrLanguage Halfcheck. Its an ongoing project, and wont play much of a role in the completed work. Its not yet big enough to have a whole conversation in. However, it has plenty of interesting stuff, some of which isnt found in any language Ive heard of. Im sure any serious linguist would call it stupid, though.brbrMagic nope. I dont use magic in my stories.brbrRaces Yes, three. Two are more heavily developed, though. They are alien in nature, and the language I mentioned belongs to one of them.brbrSpecies Aside from the sentient ones above, Ive been too lazy to create flora and fauna so far. Theyd be nice, but overall irrelevant to the story.brbr Any closeknit, loving, fully supportive families? Nobr Any children under the age of ? Nobr Any characters with a fanatical obsessionfixation? What is it? Nobr Any characters with diagnosed depressionsocial disorderpersonality disorders? Semi almost everyones a few screws lose from their circumstances, but probably not medically.br Characters who feel as though they belong in gender to the opposite sex? Nobr Characters other than antagonists who have an extremely different world view to you? Yes My characters arent me, and none of them share an overall worldview with me. Two of them view things drastically differently, in regards to human nature, religion, and political views. I wont bore you with details here.br Female characters that require saving i.e. Archetypal damsel in distress? Once, but Im convinced it was justified. Being held captive was a horrible experience of the character from the beginning of the story, and alters the way she behaves the whole time. She is literally strong enough to take care of herself and these were pretty unusual circumstances. Her capture was also relevant to the overall story as well as characterwise.brbrOn a related gender note, one of my races is femaledominated only as much as we are maledominated which is portrayed neutrally. I tried to make gender largely irrelevant to the story.brbr Characters with extremely boring backgrounds that they cannot angst about? Yep. I wont bore you with the details.br Any characters with more than one mindspiritsoulconsciousness? Nobr Characters with extremely bad luck in loverelationships? A bit. One character no longer actively looks for love, but its not quite due to bad luck and doesnt come into the story much.br brDo your mainsemimain characters have any of the following traits br Unnatural haireyeskin color i.e. Pinkbright orangepurpleblue Theyre not Sues. br Changing eyecolor? Theyre not Sues. br Tendency to cry at the slightest thing? Theyre not Sues. br HomicidalViolent impulses? Not except one character towards one particular personbr Extreme cowardice? Nobr Being of a racespecies other than human? Yes, I mentioned nonhumans above.br A really low IQ Nobr Compulsive lying Nobr Gets jealousenvious of others really easily Nobr HaughtinessArrogance Nobr A predisposition towards lazinesscomplacencyindifference Nobr brbrSecond half proudly copypasted!
